December Reflections about In the Air

   This is what I thought about as I pondered what kind of photo to take of In the Air.

What is Air?

  We smell it, we see it, we hear it, we touch it and we taste it.

Or do we?

When I walked to the car, I felt the rain on my body in the air,  I breathed in the scent of the air and tasted the freshness, the door handle was wet but my hand dried in the air. I heard the drops falling from the air hitting the car.   The leaves fell through the air to land on the window.

In the air, the rain fell to the earth.

In the Air, there is LIFE.

December 5 - Fave Book of 2016

I read all the time!

This is my most current stack of books of which I have read all except the Sandra Brown. I should finish it today or tomorrow.

I love my library.  Most of my books I read come from there.

 I very seldom buy a book unless it is secondhand and cheap, most likely at a yard sale or a used book store.

These are some books on my bookshelf.  Not much in the way of current fiction but just some books I picked up here and there.  I have gone back to read parts and pieces of these books.

So what is my fave book of 2016?

Whatever book I happen to be reading!

December Reflections prompt for the 6th- In the Air

December 4 - Circles

The December Reflection prompt today is Circles. 

 So I looked around and decided to try creating some still lifes that would be a good interpretation of circles.

I collected leaves, acorns and hickory nuts and made a mandala on a the bottom of a circular pot.

A mandala means circle in Sanskrit and a definition is: a geometric figure representing the universe in Hindu and Buddhist symbolism.

I suppose the Universe is represented in the items I chose..I could spend a long time listing how the items are all connected.  We are all connected.

The other circles I found were my empty flower pots.  Another connection as I like to have green plants growing and will fill these pots with earth, plant some flowers, maybe harvest some seeds and the cycle will continue. A circular pattern to life. 

It is really amazing how everything is connected in circles when you think about it with an open mind.

December Reflections prompt for the 5th is Best Book 2016.  

I read to many books.  This will be a hard one to pick.

December 3 Fave Photo of 2016

This photo is one my favorite photos of 2016.  

It is not a perfect photo, but here is what it means to me.

I noticed, I paused, I focused, I connected.

That little curling vine caught my eye, then I saw the water drop.  I wondered!  How did that water drop stay there defying the law of gravity and not splashing to the ground? Did the curl hold it lovingly and safely? How did the drop of water fill that curve? Was it that big a drop or did many little drops accumulate there together?  What caused the little vine to curl like that? It is not twisted around anything.  The water drop looks like a diamond.  I felt a sense of elation that I was able to see this tiny little happening of Nature.

I am thankful I had a camera to record this moment.  Thankful to be able to look at this moment again and feel those same feelings.   Life is all about the moments!  

The next prompt in December Reflections is Circles!  

December Reflections 2016

It has been a while since I have posted anything on this blog.  Too busy, not interested, why should I, etc, etc.  For whatever reason, it just did not happen.   Now I have come up with a plan for December and hopefully will be able to keep it going in 2017.   

The purpose of my blog was to post photos and write about them as they represented something in my life, my feelings or just sharing the beauty of the world.   I still want to do that.  I want to share my world with anyone that is interested.  

While posting a photo in Instagram, I came across the December Reflections hashtag. When I checked this out, I saw that it was started by Susannah Conway who also is responsible for the August Break that I have participated in before where we post a photo each day based on the prompt that is given.  December Reflections works the same way but has very interesting prompts.  Some prompts are Fave photo of 2016, Best Book, Best Day and the like along with prompts such as On the table, Light and In the Air.  Reflections of December days.    I like having photo prompts as it gets me thinking outside my normal box of nature photography.  

So, the blog will be the place to post the photos for December.  One each day along with the WRITING!  The writing about the photo is my biggest hangup.  I believe in myself so I know if I keep writing it will become easier and will also evolve into what I really want to say.   My goal is to post daily and continuing to post daily into the near year.  One photo, a short essay on the story of the photo.   Let me begin with the prompts for December 1 and 2...I am already behind!

December 1 - On the table

    I love sharing my photography with friends on Facebook and Instagram.  This year I have made an effort to print more of my photos and do something with them.  One of the things I have done for the past several years in make calendars for Christmas gifts.   Giving something of myself.

December 2 - Light

I love the fall/winter morning sun as it makes long shadows across the yard.  If I stood outside at this time, my shadow would be very tall for a short person!

A visit to the Canadian Maritimes

In August, I had the pleasure of visiting the eastern Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Cape Breton and Prince Edward Island.  A trip filled with completely new scenery and new history for me.

This is what I noticed.

The water.

There are many bays,rivers and lakes here as well

as the Atlantic Ocean.

Green fields and forests and lovely villages.

Churches of all shapes and sizes. 

Lighthouses

                                       

                                                                     Beautiful flowers

Colorful houses

Boats of all shapes and sizes.

There were more photos  

than I could possibly share here. 

It was all so wonderful to see. 

An adventure that I will always remember.

And maybe one day, I will revisit my favorite places. 

Little Things

Seeing with curiosity, attention, possibilites, wonder, and acceptance.
