     Today there were some new items in the space that caught my eye!

Some new growth from a bulb.  I think it is the orange day lily bulb.

The allium bulb is getting a bit of green on top!

The first little snowdrop!  

Always something for a photo opportunity in this space!

It rained on the daffodils.  How does a simple, common thing such as raindrops on yellow flowers  cause a multitude of emotions?   Joy, awe, reverence, gratitude and love.  Filled me with happiness.

Some things just need to be enjoyed without trying to understand why or how.

                  I found some gazania that had sprouted in the flower bed today.   I had moved all that I found at the beginning of February but these must have been buried below the soil and under the leaves. More flowers for the little red wagon flower bed.

                   It won't be long now.  Warmth and sunshine with no rain may help these buds to burst open!

         Lots of leaves but no buds in this section of the flower bed.  Maybe they are too bunched up.  I               probably need to separate and replant next fall.       

        Or they will all bloom together later!!

        Some days I get really creative and take pretty good photos of this bed.  Other days...it is just a                flower bed with no flowers.   Today was one of the boring days.

After some slightly warmer temperatures and a day of sunshine,

 this bud has decided to move out of her light green covering to show off her yellow heart.

Trusting herself that she is doing the right thing.

                          There will be flowers.  Soon or not so soon.

                       

                           Maybe now that the rain is supposed to be gone, the sun is supposed to come out 

                           and the temperatures are supposed to warm up.

When it does nothing but rain for days I have to go out to find some more raindrops in this space.  

 Lucky for me the drops show up at random places which makes more interesting photos!

A change to black and white today just to be different. 

Looking closer I found a different shape of shoot coming up.  

This is in the area where I planted an allium bulb but I did not think it would come up so fast.

It might not be but now I have to wait to find out what it is!

           This is the second day of cold, continuous rain so looking at the flower bed was a quick trip out when the showers tapered off some.    What caught my eye was the shoots seemed to have grown so much over night!   I did put some plant food on them two days again so maybe they were have an energy and growing spurt.

            Sunshine would really be appreciated!    And that first bloom!

A non traditional Haiku

Dead Leaf in the way of

reaching above the soil so...

She just poked at hole and then pushed it out of the way!

                                                 "Glad that thing is off my shoulders!"

The tiny shoot has a crook in its back but it has pushed that clump of mulch off its head!  

Sunlight will soon have it standing straight up!!

I dug out the gazanias today  to move them to a different location.

The allium bulbs went in the back row in the bed.   Hope they like it here. 

Not every thing in the flower bed was planted by me!   I wondered why there was a clump of leaves and mulch in the corner of the bed.    Now I know!  We had been missing this toy as it usually stays in the house.     My Gypsy dog must have been hiding it from something that she smelled in the yard!    There is a stuffed squirrel buried somewhere that we have never found.   Would love to be able to read my dog's mind!

                                                 Each day these shoots keep getting taller as

                                          they enjoy the sunshine and the warmer temperatures.

When I looked closer there are more buds forming.

Hoping in a few more days they will be showing some color.

Soon I will be cleaning up the leaves and applying new soil and mulch 

around these shoots so they have some food to bloom with.  Waiting for the next cold spell

to pass before I do this as I will also be planting a few allium bulbs  in this bed for summer bloom.

Using the camera in the bright sunshine is a learning experience.

The shoots of spring flowers are up above the brick border now and several have buds forming.  We are having temps in the 50s so I think all the spring bulbs are raring to burst through the soil to get out in the sunshine.  Or maybe they are just taking their time.
