Moon Faces

I enjoy watching the Moon and all its many faces!
That huge round ball that sits in our night sky has
always been an object of fascination for me.
Constant, reliable but ever changing.

The Moon has its own cycle of time and many ancient
civilizations honored the Moon and her cycles. These ancient learnings have
evolved into our own calendar. The moon is connected to our oceans
and the moving of the tides.
The bright full Moon shines like a beacon
allowing our eyes to see the dark landscapes of the night.

The Moon rises over the horizon each day,
sometimes as a big ball with swirls and patterns
that can be seen in the still blue sky
before the sun goes down.

Wispy clouds like to dance with the Moon
as the breeze blows them across the sky.

Other times the clouds are large and puffy
so that the Moon is hidden until it climbs just a little higher.

I am dazzled and awed in the event of an eclipse
when the Sun, the Earth and Moon play a new game.

And the Moon light shining on water is as fascinating to me
as the most incredible sunrise or sunset.

Sometimes the Moon will peek through the trees
or be framed in the sky by gentle pine limbs.

In the early morning before the Sun comes up as the new day begins
I can watch the moon make its way down
as it continues its journey across the sky
It is not really gone away; it is just going to shine
its light on some other person that loves the many faces of the Moon.
